Mother's Day Giveaway
I just have to take the time to let the world know what an awesome mom I have. She is so talented, strong and plain out amazing. I submitted her to win a Lane Bryant makeover for Mother's Day. I would like to ask you to take a moment out of your time and vote for her to win this trip to the Lane Bryant headquarters to receive a $500 makeover.
If you'd like to read my submission it is below. If you'd like to vote for her please click here.
Rules:
My Submission:
With her grueling hours and admirable determination she was able to ensure our well being, to allow my brother and I to join high school clubs, take advanced courses in high school and overall better ourselves. She was a huge factor in ensuring that we were also able to attend The University of Alabama so that we could better ourselves and not struggle like she has. Because of her I was a first generation college student and my brother is set to graduate this year. Last year my mom had to give up one of her jobs because of her deteriorating health and now barely makes ends meet, yet works upwards of 40-60 hours a week. When she was 18 she got to model for Lane Bryant at a local mall and still has the photo as a memento. Now, I live eight hours away and haven't seen her in months. I couldn't think of any better way to celebrate her than with this opportunity that deserves more than I could ever put into 250 words.
Please remember to vote for my beautiful, inside and out, mom by clicking here.
If you'd like to read my submission it is below. If you'd like to vote for her please click here.
Rules:
- The mother with the most votes via Facebook will receive the makeover.
- If you vote please share with your friends so they can vote as well.
- If you decide not to vote for my mom at least read my submission. I want to brag and show everyone how exceptional my mom really is, because she deserves every bit of the recognition she could potentially receive because of this contest!
My Submission:
For the past nine years my mom has worked two jobs, at times three, to ensure my brother and I had everything we needed. My dad had a series of surgeries throughout my middle and high school years and eventually lost his factory job while I was in college. My mom supported our family with her tiresome schedule because both jobs barely put her earning over minimum wage, $7 in Alabama.
Please remember to vote for my beautiful, inside and out, mom by clicking here.

Cozy Cold Weather Outfit
In the south it isn't uncommon to have a day where there are extreme differences in temperatures. Yesterday and today were some of those days. Yesterday's high temperature was 75º as opposed to today's high of 41º.
This called for some cozy and warm clothes. When I put the outfit together last night Nick mentioned how nice it was. When I put it on this morning he again mentioned how nice I looked so I had him just snap a couple shots of me before work. I got to work and got several compliments so here is what I wore!
White Sweater: Kmart
Charcoal Overvest: JC Penney
Skirt: Goodwill
Leggings: Kmart
Boots: Lane Bryant

10 Dress Sizes Later
Tis the day before lovebirds profess to each other how much they care. I took Valentine's Day off and it just so happens Monday is President's Day so I now have a four-day weekend lined up. Exciting things are in store for me, OK maybe only sleeping in and staying in my pajamas all day but those are exciting things too. I wanted to show my Valentine's Day spirit and wear something "Sweetheart-ish" so I decided on my color-block dress from Lane Bryant. I purchased this dress many moons ago before my weight loss and it is TWO, FOUR, SIX sizes too big, I even bought a dress today and it is TEN sizes smaller than the dress below; GO ME! (P.S. If someone from Lane Bryant ever reads this, please hook me up with a new wardrobe. I am thrilled with my weight loss but my wallet isn't thrilled with wardrobe prices!) With that being said I used my fuschia waist tie, that I tie so tight I can barely breathe just so my dress doesn't hang on me, around my waist to accentuate my smaller waist line. It creates a nice, sweet bow in the back. I paired this tie with my charcoal and purple blocked dress.

My photo was taken with my phone so please excuse the quality. |
As I have developed into a young professional I have cut back on a lot of the chunky, stylish jewelry and went for modest pieces, but since it is Valentine's Day I splurged and paired my fuschia headband (which added a little sweetheart innocence) with the waist tie and wrapped it all together. To add the finishing touch I wore my Madeline Stuart 4.5-inch nude Platform Mary Janes.
I even curled my hair; I was on fire this morning! This outfit reminded me of the sweetheart candies you get only at Valentine's Day because they're so terrible no one ever wants to eat them. They're the fruit cake of Valentine's Day and if you beg to differ please humor me in the comments section.
